Juniors: ACT Prep Class Jan. and Feb. during Smart Lunch
Ric Cedergren, AG Coordinator will be offering a prep training series to help students perform better on the ACT. MHHS will be administering the ACT to all juniors on March 6th of this Spring semester. This prep series will run from the last Wed. in Jan. through all four Wednesdays in Feb. in business computer lab during smart Lunch.

DUE TO MS. GAVENUS ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 10THNO EXCEPTIONS
See Ms. Gavenus for an application if you meet one of the following criteria:
 
  1. Student with Musical, Dance, Visual Arts or Drama talent &  will enroll in 4-year college, &  have min SAT of 1650 or ACT of 20, &  Rank in top 20% of class
  2. Female who enrolls in NC 4-year college, &  min SAT of 1650 or ACT of 20, &  Rank in top 10% of class
  3. Student who enrolls in any 4-year college , &  min SAT of 1700 or ACT of 22, &  Rank in top 10% of class
  4. Student who enrolls in NC 2-year OR 4-year college, &  SAT score between 1650-1750 or ACT between 20-22, &  GPA between 2.5 &  3.5 (this scholarship application can be found at www.nccommunityfoundation.org &  is titled “NC Alpha Delta Kappa Student Achievement Scholarship”)
 
It's time to get ready for filling out the FAFSA form beginning in January 2012!
1. Each student & one parent/guardian MUST register for a Federal PIN Code that will be used EVERY year of college for all students. Parents will use the same pin code for all students as well. Go TODAY to sign up for your pin at www.pin.ed.gov
2. Download FAFSA Worksheet at www.fafsa.ed.gov and gather all needed tax information to prepare to file FAFSA online.
3. File ASAP, wait for your Student Aid Report (SAR) and find out if you are eligible for Pell or other grants, government loans/work-study, education lottery, and what your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is. GOOD LUCK!
